Rihanna Won’t Have Casual Sex, Calls It ‘Empty and Hallow’

Rihanna *As part of her November cover story with Vanity Fair, Rihanna opens up on her past relationships and lovers, including Chris Brown and professional baseball player Matt Kemp, and she also dishes on why she’s not into casual sex.

“I honestly think how much fun it would be to live my reputation,” she tells Vanity Fair. “People have this image of how wild and crazy I am, and I’m not everything they think of me.”

While Rihanna’s rep has been slightly tainted by rumors that she’s been passed around the industry, she admits to being single for quite some time. “I’m fine being with myself. I don’t want to really let anybody in,” she said.

The Bajan beauty also confessed that she’s not interested in playing the field or being used for casual one-night stands.

“If I wanted to I would completely do that. I am going to do what makes me feel happy, what I feel like doing,” RiRi said. “But that would be empty for me; that to me is a hollow move. I would wake up the next day feeling like shit. When you love somebody, that’s different. Even if you don’t love them per se, when you care enough about somebody and you know that they care about you, then you know they don’t disrespect you. And it’s about my own respect for myself.”

RihannaVanity Fair fashion and style director Jessica Diehl has dressed many of the biggest stars in the world, and she revealed what it was like styling Rihanna in Cuba for this issue.

“It’s a combination: you have Rihanna, then you have Cuba, then you have [photographer] Annie [Leibovitz] who loves Cuba, and has photographed lots of things there, Jessica said. ”It’s taking into account the coloring, and the mood, and the sort of patina of the places and houses and music venues and things like that.”

She added:

“It became about what would be, in our imaginary world, believable, because it didn’t feel completely right to go 4,000 percent over the top—we wanted to be part of Cuba, we didn’t want to be outside of Cuba. The clothes . . . felt like something Rihanna would take off the rack herself, like something we could send her out into the street with. If she had been in any way constrained or posing or feeling artificial, none of what we did would have worked, really.”
