*Terry Crews opened up to the HuffPost Live this week about personal growth, his 90 day sex fast, and why men should not be afraid to embrace their varied emotions in order to enhance growth.
The “World’s Funniest” host and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star revealed that he and his wife completed a “90-day sex fast” that left him “more in love” than ever.
“90 days — no sex, all relationship, all talk, all cuddle,” he recounted. “I found that at the end of that 90 days … I knew who she was, and it wasn’t about ‘Let’s go out because I know I’m gonna get some sex later.’ It was like, ‘Let’s go because I want to talk to you. I want to know you’.”
Crews says “every man has a desire for intimacy,” but fear causes many men to “put up big fronts.”
“You’re not looking for porn. You’re looking for someone to know you and love you at the same time,” he outlined. “That’s all you want — every man out there. But he’s scared sometimes. That’s why men put up big fronts.”
Terry also tells men that it’s important to experience and analyze emotions such as rejection, sadness and depression, as it will aid in mental and spiritual growth.
“Guys all the time blink past sad moments, depressing moments,” he explained. “Not everything should be funny, and I do a lot of that processing at home: today is a sad day, ingest it, work with it, and then go on, but if you don’t, it comes out another way.”
“What I had to learn to acknowledge is that I have sad days,” he said. “There’s a thing where you blink past sadness. You say, ‘Okay, I don’t feel good so let’s do something fun today!’ and then what happens is that you’re a thrill-seeker and you’re never really dealing with your emotions.”
