*Jessica Chastain (“The Help,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Shelter,” “The Martian”), one of the most talented and sought after talents in Hollywood, is fired up about her latest project, “Crimson Peak.”

Chastain lit up the Internet earlier this year with her remarks after the Oscars, lashing out about the lack of diversity in Hollywood. No stranger to controversy, the fearless and awesome actress took on the role of Lucille, who bears her claws and thumbs her nose tradition.

But going to the dark side in “Crimson Peak,” took a toll on Jessica Chastain, she told The Film Strip.

Chastain passed on the pristine role of Edith (Mia Wasikowska). At the Mandarin Oriental hotel in New York City, The Film Strip  expressed its love of supernatural and horror films. That being said, she  was asked how much fun was it to star in the Guillermo del Toro film?

“It wasn’t fun,” Chastain chuckled. “I thought it was fun to work with Guillermo and Tom (Hiddleston) and Mia because I really love them, and I think they’re are incredible. But I really underestimated the toll that this character was going to take on me.

“I wanted to play Lucille. I was really excited to play her, and I love her when I see the film. But, when I finished, I was supposed to go and do another film. But I had to leave that film because I needed to take time due to the fact I was so depleted; learning the piano, learning Chopin for someone who has never played. Everything about her, there was nothing easy, there was never, ‘oh this is a fun light day.’ Everyday was so intense.”

In this supernatural mystery set in a crumbling mansion in a largely rural and mountainous region of northern England in the late 19th century, Lady Lucille Sharpe and her brother Sir Thomas Sharpe’s dilapidated abode harbors ghostly entities. When Thomas’ young, rich bride arrives, all hell breaks loose and the spirits reveal themselves.

“Crimson Peak” opens October 16, 2015.
