*New NBC comedy “Truth Be Told” got off to a sluggish start on Friday.

Its lead-in “Undateable” held steady with its modest season premiere, averaging 3.2 million viewers, but the launch of “Truth Be Told” had even less. The freshman comedy averaged a weak 0.7 rating in the key demo and 2.6 million viewers for its first episode.

By comparison, ABC’s comedies “Last Man Standing” and the popular “Dr. Ken,” co-starring Tisha Campbell-Martin, each averaged a steady 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 at 8 and 8:30 p.m., respectively. Combined with “Shark Tank,” which also nabbed a 1.3 rating in the key demo, ABC locked another demo win for Friday.

“Truth Be Told,” co-starring Tone Bell and Bresha Webb, follows two diverse couples, that are also best friends and just so happen to be neighbors – each with unique observations about the world based on their respective backgrounds.

Below, Bell talks about being able to pitch the show’s creator/writer, D.J. Nash, upon whom the series is based.

“Truth Be Told” airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
