wendy williams weight loss

*During Monday’s episode of the “After Show,” a behind-the-scenes look at Wendy Williams backstage of her hit daytime syndicated talk-show, the former radio DJ revealed how she lost 50 pounds in the last three years, and that she’s now maintaining her now thin frame through a veganism.

Williams told fans that she stopped eating meat and started doing cardio and Pilates, most importantly, she just stopped eating as much. “Because of all the crazy diets I’ve been on, none have ever been as effective as [saying to myself], ‘Just push back, fatso. Just stop eating so much.,’ ” she said.

“I don’t love food as much as I used to,” said Williams, adding she doesn’t eat after dark, and that she makes time to hit the gym.

“I go to the gym because it’s not about me losing weight at this point, it’s about me trying to fight heart disease,” she continued. “Slow and steady is the name of the game. It’s not going to happen overnight. I no longer believe in fad diets, crash diets…yes, I did have a jump-start because years ago I did get the liposuction and a tummy tuck, but I have to say that, if there is a poster child for plastic surgery and the jump-off to a new lifestyle, it would be me.”

PEOPLE reports how Wendy also shared a touching conversation she had with her son about her weight loss journey.

“My son said something to me this weekend that made me feel really good, but it’s not going to steer me off my path. He said, ‘Mommy, I don’t even know why you go to the gym. … Because you’re already skinny, you’ve got no weight to lose. You don’t need to go to the gym. Why do you go? It’s just a waste of your time and your money.’ ”

Williams does “a lot of cardio” and also Pilates because it “involves laying down and relaxing,” she said. During a September episode of “The Dr. Oz Show,” she shared that her actual weight is now around 145 pounds. “It’s a good weight for at 5 foot 11 with heavier bones,” she said.
