August Alsina’s Mother Reveals Estranged Relationship with Singer

August Alsina*Fresh off announcing the release date for his upcoming album, “This Thing Called Life,” NOLA native August Alsina hit up Power 105.1 to talk about everything from the anticipated release, to his medical problems, which included having corrective surgery on his eyes in order to eradicate a disease, and doctors had to literally break his sinuses because he couldn’t function out of the right side of his nostrils – an operation that improved his vocal range.

However, August went into TMI territory when he aired out problems he has had with his family. As BET reports, that didn’t sit too well with his mother, Sheila Blair, who took to Instagram shortly after his interview to express her displeasure about what was said.

“So I listened to the interview. I was so sadden [sic] by the lies or the road August chose to promote the album,” she wrote as the caption for the now deleted post. “It’s always three sides to the story. How could you call and check on someone that stop talking to you since April?

“August didn’t call me for Mother’s Day, birthday in July,” she continued. “Passed out, rushed to the hospital in September, didn’t hear from him. It’s so sad that this boy is crying out for help, and his whole team is missing it.”

Alsina’s mother isn’t the only family member to call him out for changing after fame. An unnamed relative sent text messages to the singer, who posted the series of messages on Instagram which said, “You’re letting that lil’ a** money change you. I heard that s**t you said to aunt Triece and that s**t ain’t cool.”

August Alsina’s “This Thing Called Life” is slated for release on December 4, and it highlights his bouts with depression and mental illness.
