*Chicago Police have charged Corey Morgan, 27, with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee, officials announced Friday.
Investigators say “at least” three people were involved with the incident. In addition to charges against Morgan, an arrest warrant has been issued for Kevin Edwards. Another man is currently in custody on unrelated charges.
Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said Morgan is a documented gang member and convicted felon. Investigators had been questioning Morgan in the case. He was arrested on an unrelated gun charge and was released on bail earlier this week.
Around 4 p.m. on Nov. 2, Tyshawn was lured into an alley near West 80th Street and South Damen Avenue and shot in the head execution style, in retaliation for his father’s gang ties, police said.
