*Former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle received a prison sentence of 15 years and eight months in Indianapolis Thursday, accepting a plea deal in which he admitted to child pornography and repeatedly having sex with minors.

The case involved interstate travel to pay minors for sex, as well as at least 400 child pornography videos — many of which Fogle received from the head of his charity, prosecutors said at today’s hearing.

Fogle, who famously dropped 245 pounds on a diet of Subway’s turkey and veggie subs, was sentenced to 188 months on each count, to be served concurrently.

Prosecutors had been seeking a punishment of around 12 years in prison, while Fogle’s lawyers asked for a sentence of around five years. Fogle is also reportedly paying about $1.4 million in total restitution to 14 victims, some of whom live in his home state of Indiana.

Earlier in court, a defense psychiatrist suggested that his Subway diet made him commit the crimes.

“Once he lost weight, it seemed as though in a short time he had hyper-sexuality,” forensic psychiatrist John Bradford testified. “There are brain disorders that can be associated with sexual drive.”

Bradford, of the University of Ottawa, testified shortly after Fogle pleaded guilty.
