*On Sunday November 15, 2015 The Gold Coast International Film Festival’s Young Filmmakers Program (YFP) will screen 10 year-old Baltimore actor Anthony Michael Hobbs’(Emmy nominated PBS’ “The Abolitionists”) short film One Nation. Last month the 5th Annual Gary International Black Film Festival awarded Hobbs with the “Best Youth Short” honors for his film.

The screening of One Nation at the Gold Coast Film Festival’s YFP will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Soundview Cinemas in Port Washington and marks Anthony Michael’s eight film festival appearance. The Gary International Black Film Festival’s “Best Youth Short” Award marks Anthony Michael’s fourth award for his short film which he produced, directed and stars in. One Nation is about a boy name Steven and his five friends (Jeffrey, Spice, Hope, Rose, and Brianna); kids who decided that they needed to give back to the members of the Army Forces returning to the U.S. after fighting for our freedoms.

One Nation, Hobbs first short film, has also screened at The Aurora Picture Show Extremely Young Film Festival in Houston; the Alhambra Theatre Film Festival in Indiana (won the Spirit Award); the West Chester Film Festival in Pennsylvania; the Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey (won Grand Prize), the San Diego International Kids Film Festival, and the Ocktober Film Festival in New York (won Best Youth Filmmaker).

The Global Stars Network multi-Award winning actor’s credits include playing a young Frederick Douglass in the 2013 Emmy Award nominated PBS special “The American Experience: The Abolitionist” starring actor/director Richard Brooks (“Law & Order,” The Crow); starring in DreamWorks documentary “How to Train Your Dragon: Dragons and Dinosaurs” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bekKOmfsWfc); a co-starring role in Russell Yaffe’s “My Brother is a Zombie” (which recently screened at the Austin Film Festival); several PBS Sprout Network mini-segments “Claritin Kids Allergy Medicine,” Sunnyside Up Show, and “Good Night Show”; the national classroom program called KinderRhyme – which appears in over 2600 school programs, and in a Comcast’s Xfinity segment, and the voice-over actor Anthony Michael’s voice can be heard in an instructional video for advertising firm TBWA World Wide – the largest advertising holding company in the world.

Also a model Anthony Michael has modeled for Finish Line athletics’ chain’s national in-store marketing campaign, for the Philadelphia based Urban-inspired footwear and apparel 85 store chain Villa’s national print and website campaign, for Charles River Apparel’s 2015 catalogue, and for the USDA’s Healthy Kids 2011 national print campaign.  He is also a stage actor who has performed in Kim Sykes’ “In A Roundabout Way” and Nolan Williams, Jr,’s “Christmas Gift!”

In addition, the young protégé’ is also a motivational speaker who has been a guest at such events as former NFL player Joel Gamble’s (Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans) “Joel Gamble Foundation: Career Scholars Program”, and the Root Branch Academy’s Youth Film Festival.
