*Idris Elba pops up in Ubisoft’s live-action TV spot for the upcoming video game “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Siege.”
According to Variety, the game maker is “pulling out all the stops to drive back old fans and bring in new by hiring director Seb Edwards and two-time Academy Award-winning film editor Angus Wall.”
“Survival is earned through improvisation and destruction,” Elba says in the trailer.
“Siege,” the first console release in the franchise since “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2” in 2008, is a first-person shooter game that puts an emphasis on the destructibility of the environment. The trailer demonstrates this by showing an attacker using a sledgehammer to pound a hole through a second level floor down onto shooters on the first level.
Teamwork is also a point of emphasis. Players will control different operators and use their different perks, abilities, and equipment in tandem to accomplish their goals.
“Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege” releases Dec. 1 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
