*Jamie Foxx has always supported his kid sister DeOndra Dixon, who has Down’s syndrome – so naturally he lent his star power to help her and others who suffer from the disorder to help raise funds and awareness at a gala to benefit the Global Down Syndrome Foundation in Denver, Colorado Saturday night.
The event raised a record $2 million, and in the past seven years, the annual show has brought in a total $12 million. “Global really gets down to business when it comes to bringing awareness to Down syndrome,” Jamie said in a statement.
“Extra’s” Jerry Penacoli caught up with Foxx at the ‘Be Beautiful Be Yourself’ event, where not only did Jamie and his sister DeOndra – who stands 4 ft 11 in – dance on stage to the delight of the crowd, he revealed that he wouldn’t turn down an opportunity to work on Lee Daniels’ hit drama “Empire.”
Foxx said, “I mean, I would love to.” At the same event, series star Terrence Howard said about the possibility, “I don’t know. He’s done enough TV.” Jamie responded to the comment, “Never too big for television.”
Jamie also opened up about his upcoming album, and showed off his vocal cords by singing some of his new song “In Love by Now” from the album. He shared, “I’m supposed to be in love right now.”
When asked for more details about falling in love, Foxx explained, “I am in love. I’m in love with DeOndra. I’m in love with my family.”
He added, “I did an interview with Oprah. She’s like, ‘So Jamie, why aren’t you married?’ I said, ‘I just don’t think you can make it in public.’”
Jamie revealed that Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is featured in the music video for “In Love by Now.” He’s also set to star as Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic. “Martin Scorsese will direct it. I’m getting into shape and started to take on the character,” he said.
