kansas city royals (high fives)*The Kansas City Royals rallied from a two-run deficit after eight innings to beat the New York Mets, 7-2, in 12 innings Sunday night at Citi Field in Game 5 to win the franchise’s second World Series championship.

The Royals, who were making their fourth appearance in the World Series and lost last season in seven games to the San Francisco Giants, won their first title in 1985.
