*Kim Fields stopped by the “Wendy Show” to discuss that burning question that many fans have about her joining “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,”…. why? Kim and Wendy chopped it up about why she decided to do the show, and she revealed that her initiation into club Housewives involved learning the art of throwing “shade.”
Fields has over two decades in the film/TV business, and many may remember her as Régine Hunter from “Living Single” or as Tootie Ramsey from “The Facts of Life.” Now the actress and mother is starring in BRAVO’s hit reality franchise, and she recently called her involvement with the show “an adventure” that’s awakened her creative voices.
Fields said that while she and her husband Christopher Morgan have been offered reality shows in the past that they turned down, she accepted the RHOA offer because the opportunity came at the right time in her life, so she decided to go for it. She said, “Go big or go home. If you’re going to put your toe in the water, put your toe in the Atlantic or Pacific.”
Being a busy working mother of two sons, Sebastian and Quincy, hasn’t allowed much time for Kim to keep up with the latest urban lingo, especially that of her series co-stars. In a funny moment, she told Wendy that she had no idea what shade was before she started the show. She said, “When I’m talking they’re like ‘Oh, that’s shade” and I’m like ‘Oh Jesus NO! I just don’t know.”
Kim also took Wendy down memory lane of “Facts of Life” show, confirming that producers kept a scale behind-the-scenes for the girls to weigh themselves.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” premieres Sunday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. on Bravo. Kim Fields joins returning players Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, Kandi Burruss and recurring pals Shereé Whitfield and Shamea Morton.
