*Mo’Nique was again asked about her somewhat open marriage – this time in a new interview with website TrueExclusives.com.
In the article, the twice-married actress and comedian says she believes in keeping marital vows, but added “people cheat because of something they’re not getting.” Her solution is to grant a “pass to cheat.”
The Oscar winner believes in “open and honest conversations” with one’s spouse, and that cheating is fine if both parties agree – particularly if the person your partner wants to cheat with will do something that you won’t do.
“What is it about that person that you find that you wanna sleep with? Because they may give you something that I’m simply not willing to do,” the actress told True Exclusives. “And if that’s the case, how can I be mad? Because I’m not gon’ do it. Should I deprive you of not having it? That’s when the relationship is real real.”
Mo’Nique has been married to her husband, actor and producer Sidney Hicks, since 2006 and have two children together.
The actress has been talking about this since at least 2010, when she told Barbara Walters: “Could I have sex outside of my marriage with Sidney? Yes. Could Sid have sex outside of his marriage with me? Yes. That’s not a deal breaker. That’s not something that we would say, ‘Oh my God because you were attracted to another person and because you happened to have sex let’s end the marriage.'”
