*Dang, we wish we were there to see this in person.

Well we weren’t so the next best thing is to see it via video.

We’re referring to the incredible mother-daughter moment between actress Tracee Ellis Ross and her mother, the legendary and still gorgeous Diana Ross.

It took place at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas back on Nov. 21. when Diana asked Tracee to come up and sing one of her songs, “Lady Sings the Blues.”

So yeah, like, first of all, who knew Tracee could sing? Well, duh, memo to writer, she is Diana’s daughter! Helllloooo!!  🙂

OK, anyway, now that we got that straightened out, back to Tracee and Diana on stage. As you’ll see in the video below, at first, Tracee seemed nervous, jokingly accusing the musical accompaniment of “messing her up.” However, once she got it together, she showed she has the chops to be a serious  singer … if she wanted to.

Watch as Mom proudly teases Tracee to the audience about being able to sing but not doing it.

After the show, Tracee headed to Facebook to share her feelings about performing with her legendary mother on stage. Apparently it was as good to her as it was to us.

“She is a nurturing and fierce mom,” she wrote, “intimate and ancient, in a setting that isn’t meant to support mothering: on stage with the whole world watching. There is a way in which she creates privacy and makes space for the sacred in the most public of settings. It is profound, and defines an intimate depth and wisdom that my mom holds. She has always carved out space for her children. I have always known I was the priority.”

She also added:

“My favorite part was me burying my head into her shoulder. It has been ages since I’ve hidden so deeply in my mother’s embrace, and it was awesome.”

Watch and smile:
