*South African officials are reportedly investigating Chris Rock’s family to determine how a 7-year-old girl who has been living with them since she was an infant ended up in their home.

TMZ is reporting that the girl, Ntombi, has been living with the Rocks since 2008, when she was 6-months-old. The girl’s biological parents were said to be unemployed South Africans, and somehow their child ended up living in the Rock home.

Things were relatively fine – until Chris and Malaak Compton-Rock began divorce proceedings last year. Chris maintained his relationship with his two biological daughters, but he hasn’t seen Ntombi since the split, according to TMZ.

Around the same time as divorce docs were filed, South African officials began investigating the child’s journey from South Africa to the U.S., without a legal adoption in place.

As for why he Chris has not had contact with Ntombi, TMZ cites sources connected to the actor who say he never signed legal docs to adopt her, and bringing her over to the U.S. was all Malaak’s doing.

Chris’ rep tells TMZ he does not have an adopted child.
