Naughty by Nature Hitting the Road to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

Naughty by Nature*Naughty by Nature will release a new EP next year and support it with a 26-city tour that will also celebrate their 25th anniversary.

The tour will kick off January 27 at the Cone Denim Entertainment Center in Greensboro, North Carolina – and end in Philadelphia, PA.

The popular 90’s trio launched the international leg earlier this month, and have a Tampa, Florida show scheduled for December 4.

Tickets for the tour are available via Naughty by Nature’s website, complete list of dates below.

Along with the tour and new EP – that will include never-before-heard tracks – the group will drop a documentary that will chronicle their extensive career, including the earlier years when members Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee went by the name The New Style. Their 1989 debut release caught the attention of Queen Latifah, who mentored the guys during the production of their self-titled album, which they released in 1991 under their new name. The album featured the hit single “O.P.P.” which helped propel the act into hip hop stardom.

Treach recalled making the infamous ode to adultery track in an oral history excerpted for Rolling Stone.

“That was recorded in the first quarter of our recording,” Treach said. “We didn’t try to make a pop hit; it just happened it was the [Melvin Bliss ‘Synthetic] Substitution’ beat and a [Jackson 5] sample. It’s a call-and-response song and we’re talking about fuckin’ other niggas’ bitches. The record probably would have been banned if radio had known what we was talkin’ about. It took them a year or two to figure out what it meant. If you weren’t listening or weren’t really into hip-hop, it wasn’t easy.”

The release date of the upcoming film and record have yet to be announced, but in the meantime, you can purchase your concert tickets here.
