*Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter thinks “Creed,” the latest addition to the “Rocky” franchise, should win an Academy award for Best Picture. And what else could he say as the proud mayor of the film’s setting.

Naturally, a photo op for the film was held atop the Philadelphia Museum of Art 72 steps, scaled famously by Rocky Balboa during the 1976 original film – which actually won the Oscar for Best Picture.

There have been six “Rocky” sequels since, and Stallone said at Friday’s “Creed” event. “There’s more to go. I would like to follow this character until eventually he’s an angel.”

“Creed” stars Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky’s ring rival Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers)in the original film. In this script, Adonis has followed in his late father’s footsteps, and coaxes Balboa out of retirement to become his trainer.

Below, Stallone told reporters his initial response when the film’s writer/director Ryan Coogler asked if he’d like to produce a sequel on Apollo Creed’s son.

“Creed” opens on Nov. 25, the 40th anniversary of the date the opening scene was filmed n the original “Rocky.”
