Tia Mowry-Hardrict Joins ‘Rosewood / Stevie J Heading to Rehab to Avoid Jail

Tia, Stevie J*Fresh off a three-season run as the lead on Nick at Nite’s “Instant Mom” comedy series, Tia Mowry-Hardrict has inked a deal with FOX for a recurring role on “Rosewood,” which has received a full-season order. The crime procedural stars Morris Chestnut as a private Miami pathologist, and Mowry will play “Cassie, a previously homeless teenage lesbian who has worked her way up to owning her own restaurant through drive and hard work,” Deadline reports.

Cassie is also Pippy’s (Gabrielle Dennis) childhood friend from a “troubling and mysterious time in her past,” which could lead to a shocking reveal of Pippy’s dark secrets. The “Sister, Sister” star is notable for portraying medical student Melanie Barnett on The CW/BET comedy-drama series “The Game.” Fans may not know that Mowry is also the head coach of the Entertainment Basketball League celebrity team – Atlanta division, whose players include her husband, Cory Hardrict, and ex co-star, Pooch Hall.

Meanwhile, Stevie J tells TMZ that he’s checking into drug rehab so he can avoid going to jail. The “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” star was in court last week for his child support case, and the judge was set to decide whether to revoke his bail for failing a drug test. Stevie caught a break, instead of locking him up, the judge ordered him to an outpatient drug treatment program. Stevie must enroll and report to a facility twice a week and comply with drug testing.

He is scheduled to return to court next month and show proof he’s been following the rules. If he fails, off to jail he goes! Stay tuned, as we suspect Stevie can’t resist the turn up for too long.

You can catch “Rosewood” Wednesday nights at 8/7c on FOX, and check out the new line-up of programs coming up this winter.
