“A lot of people still think I’m black,” the 75-year-old entertainer told The Times magazine of London.

“When I first came to America, people who had heard me sing on the radio would be surprised that I was (white) when they saw me,” he said,. “Because of my hair, a lot of black people still tell me I’m just passing as white.”

Born to a Welsh mother and English father, Jones mentioned thoughts he had of having black roots through his mother.

“My mother came out [was born] in big dark patches all over her body,” said the singer, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 . “They asked if she had any black blood and she said she didn’t know.”

News of Jones seeking to determine if he’s black comes as his website reveals that he will appear in London’s Blues Fest for a scheduled performance on Sunday night, according to Page Six .
