*Tracy Morgan is slowly but confidently bouncing back from the deadly car crash that left his friend dead, and him in critical condition and suffering from a brain injury.
In October, Morgan returned to the stage when he hosted Saturday Night Live, and now he’s starring in a commercial for Footlocker. The 47-year-old comedian tells ET that he has a new outlook on life since the accident.
ET caught up with Morgan and his wife, Megan Wollover, on the set of his new Footlocker ad, where he opened up about his journey, and confessing that his daughter helped him during his recovery battle.
“I remember this time last year I was in a wheelchair wondering if I was gonna walk again,” Morgan shared. “Now I’m doing a Foot Locker commercial.”
The former “30 Rock” star credited his 2-year-old daughter, Maven, who he shares with Wollover, with helping him recover.
“She made me laugh a lot during my therapy,” Morgan recounted. “She loved daddy, and she made daddy laugh a lot.”
Morgan and Wollover tied the knot in August after a nearly four-year engagement, and she says that Tracy is “even funnier” than he was before (the crash), and that he is “back to [being] himself.”
“She was my rock. [She] still is. She was right there telling me, ‘Don’t worry about it,'” Morgan gushed. “All she kept saying was, ‘I love you,’ and, ‘Don’t worry about it, you’re gonna be better than ever.'”
Tracy admits his near death experience has led him to have a new perspective on life.
“The things that worried me and that were important before, aren’t so important now,” he said. “When you spend weeks in comas, then you hear and see things differently. I see life differently. I embrace it more.”
“And to my fans, I’m glad I was able to come back and finish the job of making them laugh,” Morgan added. “This is for you.”
