Bill Cosby’s Defense in Beverly Johnson Case: ‘I’m Legally Blind’?

*Is Bill Cosby now claiming that he couldn’t see well enough to rape former supermodel Beverly Johnson?

According to Radar Online, Cosby states that he is “legally and functionally blind” in his 14-page defamation lawsuit against Johnson, who has accused the comedian of rape. In the lawsuit, filed Dec. 21 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Cosby accuses Johnson of making up the rape case to generate publicity for an autobiography she was promoting.

Cosby, 78, has suffered from vision problems due to glaucoma, his lawsuit reveals, according to Radar Online. The lawsuit says he also battles keratoconus — a disorder that alters the shape of the corneas. The condition causes his images to distort, multiply or streak.

The lawsuit claimed: “Mr. Cosby has suffered from a degenerative eye condition for years which has steadily worsened recently to the point that he for over a year has been legally and functionally blind.”

Radar sought the opinion of New York City criminal defense attorney Murray Richman, who said Cosby is pulling out the “going blind” card because he wants to show that he has a “disability that makes him physically incapable of doing all those things that he has alleged to have done.”

Johnson, 63, claims Cosby drugged her with a cup of coffee in his Manhattan townhouse in the 1980s and that she was forced to fend off his aggressive advances.

Calling the allegations “malicious, opportunistic, false and defamatory,” the lawsuit also claimed Johnson falsely accused her two previous boyfriends of abuse.
