‘Empire’, Will Smith, Regina King, Idris Elba Among Golden Globe Nominees

*They were snubbed yesterday by the SAG Awards, but “Empire,” Will Smith and Regina King had their names called early Thursday as nominees for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards.

“Empire” is nominated for Best Drama, and star Taraji P. Henson is again nominated for Best Actress in a Drama. For the second consecutive year, she’ll face fellow return-nominee Viola Davis in the category.

Smith was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama for his big screen role in “Concussion,” and King was nominated for her role in ABC’s “American Crime.”

Idris Elba picked up acting noms for his role in the Netflix film “Beasts of No Nation” and BBC America’s “Luther.” He also earned SAG Award nominations for the two roles on Wednesday.

Other SAG nominees earning Golden Globe nods for the same roles are “Bessie” star Queen Latifah, and “Orange is the New Black’s” Uzo Aduba, who will face King for Best Supporting Actress, Series, Limited Series or TV Movie.
