*First Lady Michelle Obama is bringing her rap skills out for a worthy cause with a new music video promoting the benefits of going to college.

Although Obama kicks her rap verse off saying “FLOTUS on the track,” it’s “Saturday Night Live” fixture Jay Pharaoh who does the majority of the rhyming in the video, which was produced by the Gregory Brothers.

“South Side Chicago, we all know,” Obama raps. “We had to do overtime every night to make it tomorrow.”

Media sources note the video, a collaboration with the comedy website CollegeHumor.com, is part of the first lady’s Reach Higher initiative. As for the motivation behind the clip, Obama mentioned that it was a “fun and fresh way” to encourage young people to take control of their future.

“When I launched my Better Make Room campaign in October, I said that this campaign is about celebrating students the same way we celebrate athletes and celebrities,” Obama said in a statement. “I want to honor and empower young people who are working hard in school and pursuing their dreams – and I want to do it in a fun and fresh way – and that’s why I was so excited to film this “music video” with Jay Pharaoh, CollegeHumor, and the Gregory Brothers.”

The first lady’s rap video comes months after she danced to Mark Ronson’s Bruno Mars-assisted hit “Uptown Funk” on “Ellen” in March to viral acclaim on the Internet. Scroll below to see Obama’s video with Pharaoh:
