Leonardo DiCaprio Not Savagely Raped by Bear in ‘The Revenant’

Leo DiCaprio, Revenant.*If you read the Drudge Report which claims Leonardo DiCaprio gets raped by a bear in his forthcoming “The Revenant” movie, and you found yourself both disturbed by this, yet intrigued enough to want to check it out – stay home, because as it turns out, Leo’s bestiality scene doesn’t happen.

Directed by Oscar winner Alejandro Inarritu, “The Revenant” is based on Michael Punke’s 2002 novel of the same name, and is inspired by the life of frontiersman Hugh Glass, who lived from 1780–1833. Seems unlikely that a man could get raped by a bear and live to tell about, but according to the initial report, the film depicts a scene in which exactly that occurs.

Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, and Domhnall Gleeson star alongside Leo – who plays Hugh Glass, and encounters a grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park. He plays dead but the freaky bear is not fooled by stupid human tricks, so he flips Leo over on his stomach, rips off his clothes and takes the a** – savagely raping him TWICE, according to Drudge.

There were reports that viewers ran screaming from test screenings, and that FOX plans to omit the scene before its December 25 release.

While Drudge stands by its report, 20th Century Fox denies it, claiming that the bear is actually a female protecting her cubs, and there is no sexual assault in the scene. The studio said in a statement:

“As anyone who has seen the movie can attest, the bear in the film is a female who attacks Hugh Glass because she feels he might be threatening her cubs. There is clearly no rape scene with a bear.”

DiCaprio spoke about the scene earlier this year in an interview with Yahoo Movies.

‘[Those scenes] — amongst many other sequences — were some of the more difficult things I’ve ever had to do in my entire career,’ said the 40-year-old actor.
