*Looks like Adele and Lionel Richie have gotten the message about officially coming together for a collaboration, in light of nostalgia raised for Richie’s ‘80’s classic hit “Hello” upon  fans hearing Adele’s chart-topper of the same name.

Chatting with E! News, Richie revealed that plans for he and Adele to come together musically are underway.

“We are going to be doing something together—that’s already almost in the works,” he said. “I can almost say that we are talking, but right now she has a mission. Her mission is [to] get her record out and go on tour, so until she finishes that cycle, that won’t happen just yet. She is committed to that.”

A tune featuring Richie and Adele comes as welcome news for music fans. Especially since “Hello” mashups have been created to spur talk of them working together.

As for Richie’s reaction to Adele’s “Hello” sparking memories of one of his memorable hits, he recalls all the hoopla raised by those around him.

“You have no idea how many people called me on the phone and said, ‘Are you going to let her get away with that? She stole ‘Hello!” Then I said I don’t own ‘Hello.’ I own the melody,” he told E! during a preview of his new home collection to Manhattan’s top real estate brokers at the TOWN Residential Art Basel kick-off event.

“But, what it did was it blew everything to the ceiling, Richie added. “The conversation came up. If you say Adele and you say Lionel or Lionel and Adele…that’s the best pairing you could have!”

Richie’s thoughts on Adele’s “Hello” comes as the London songstress enjoys the record-breaking success of her latest album “25.”

Released nearly two weeks ago, “25” has generated album sales totaling more than 4 million, HipHollywood.com reports, citing Billboard. In its first week (Nov. 20-Nov. 26), the album sold 3.38 million, while its second week accounted for at least 650,000 sold.
