*The Force will be with FLOTUS next week at the White House.
First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to host a screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” for the children of fallen service members.
Set for Dec. 18 (the day the film opens in theaters nationwide), the screening is part of Obama’s Joining Forces initiative, which supports service members, veterans and their families.
The massive hype leading up to next Friday’s release, including the special White House screening, has not been lost on the film’s director and writer J.J. Abrams. At the movie’s press junket last week, he explained what his game plan was in creating the seventh overall film in the franchise.
“Star Wars” mania even touched President Obama this week.
During a White House Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony on Wednesday evening, he said during his remarks: “All of us come together along with Jews around the world to celebrate a band of Maccabees who inspire us even today. They were outnumbered, out armed yet proved freedom can prevail over tyranny, hope can triumph over despair, light can prevail over darkness. That sounds like a description of the new Star Wars movie but this one happened a little earlier.”
Thankfully, he received a loud round of applause from the room.
