*Lance Stephenson‘s troubles have expanded beyond the basketball court as his baby mama, Feby Torres, brings a child support case against him.
Rolling Out reports that Torres, who had two young children by Stephenson, recently took the Los Angeles Clippers guard back to court with accusations of Stephenson not paying enough money in child support payments. As it stands now, Torres, gets $6,000 a month in child support. She is requesting an increase in the payments to $12,000 in order to use the additional $6,000 to help her with moving to a safer part of Brooklyn in addition to getting childcare so she can return to school.
“He told me they didn’t need the amount of money I’m receiving now, and he’ll do anything for them, and he doesn’t want to come to court anymore,” Torres told a judge during a hearing at a Brooklyn Family Court last week. “I would like the court to award me something reasonable, something that fits my children’s needs.”
Stephenson’s attorney, Laurence Greenberg, countered Torres’ argument saying the $6,000 she receives per month would be more than enough money for her if only she didn’t squander it for her own use.
“There is money being spent where by there’s no need for additional child support,” Greenberg said. “Ms. Torres makes no financial contributions to the children, has her own personal expenses met…she is enhancing her own personal lifestyle.”
In her testimony, Torres admitted that she has not had a job since dropping out of school over a year ago. Rolling Out notes the aspiring media personality recently appeared in rapper 2 Milly’s “Milly Rock” video.
As the trial continued, Greenberg mentioned that Stephenson is not attempting to underpay Torres. As a result, Greenberg said his client is willing to pay for any reasonable expense his kids may have, including the $3,000 Torres says she needs to send the children to summer camp.
Nevertheless, Torres’ lawyer Daniel Nottes pointed out that despite Stephenson’s intentions, “the kids are still living in a place where there’s gun shots.”
Although Stephenson didn’t take the stand in last week’s hearing, he is expected to testify when the case reconvenes in March.
Stephenson’s baby mama drama comes as he deals with professional accusations of his performance being sub-par on the court as the Clippers are being noted for underperforming.
