*The presence of New York Jets receiver Brandon Marshall and his wife, Michi, proved to be a win for the Child Mind Institute as the couple helped raise a record $6.8 million at its Child Advocacy Award Dinner.

Page Six reports that Katie Couric emceed the event, which took place Wednesday (Dec. 9) at Cipriani 42nd Street. Marshall was on hand to co-host the dinner’s auction as an ambassador for CMI’s Healthy Brain Network.

The athlete, who has fought personal battles with borderline personality disorder, ignited a bidding war at the auction when he put himself in the mix with offering a chance to attend a home game with him and Michi in a luxury suite.

Noting Michi’s reaction to watching her husband play, Page Six referenced comments she made last week to “Inside the NFL” saying, “When I’m watching the game, it’s like watching Brandon getting into a car accident every 10 minutes . . . It’s gut-wrenching for me in the stands.”
