obama (san bernardino saturday message)

*Tomorrow, Sunday (12-06-15) President Obama will address the nation on the San Bernardino shootings in a rare speech from the Oval Office.

The White House announced the 8pm Eastern speech as a new addition to the president’s weekend schedule.

It will be only President Obama’s third Oval Office speech, his first since announcing the end of U.S. combat operations in Iraq on Aug. 31, 2010.

Obama met with his national security team to receive an update Saturday morning on the San Bernardino shooting, reaffirming the FBI had not yet found any indication the two shooters were part of any larger international terror networks or cells.

In a radio broadcast in English, the Islamic State group praised the couple as “soldiers of the caliphate” and martyrs but did not specifically say they were members of the extremist group.

White House also says the president is expected to discuss “the broader threat of terrorism, including the nature of the threat, how it has evolved, and how we will defeat it.”
