*New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has lost his appeal of a one-game suspension and will have to sit out this Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The league had handed down the suspension on Monday, punishing the player for his part in a series of on-the-field skirmishes with Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman.

“At numerous times during (Sunday’s) game against the Carolina Panthers, your actions placed a fellow player at unnecessary risk … and clearly did not represent the high standards of sportsmanship expected,” NFL vice president of football operations Merton Hanks wrote in a letter to Beckham as the one-game ban was announced on Monday after a hearing at NFL headquarters. Former NFL receiver James Thrash heard the appeal.

Earlier Wednesday, Norman was fined $26,044 for his part in the series of exchanges.
