Omarion & Apryl Jones Quit ‘LHHH’ to Focus on Careers, Expanding Family

Apryl Jones, Omarion*If you were wondering why Omarion and Apryl Jones were not present for the “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” reunion, we now know why. The couple have called it quits on the show that made her an urban household name and put the R&B crooner back in the spotlight.

Omarion and Jones, who are expecting their second child in March, (a girl), have confirmed that they will not be returning for season 3. They have opted to concentrate on their music career and growing family. Smart move, as they didn’t provide enough high-drama on the show to keep most viewers engaged. Including this writer.

Apyrl sat down for an interview with ESSENCE Live to officially make the announcement, and explain their reasons for exiting.

“We didn’t go to the reunion because Omari was on tour and I was with him with our child. But umm, we are NOT going to do next season.”

Jones also revealed that because of their strong bond and devotion to each other, they were never worried about the “reality TV curse.”

“We have a strong bond,” Apryl said. “We just knew coming to reality TV we just knew nothing was going to change that. We’ve never been worried about the ‘show curse’ because when we walked into Love * Hip Hop filming knowing what we were prepared for. They had a lot of respect for me and Omari so we weren’t really worried about that. We knew we would be ok walking in and walking out.”

Meanwhile, Omarion is not pleased that his “Post to Be” R&B track featuring Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko, was not among the 2016 Grammy Awards nominees announced Monday morning.

The former B2K frontman ranted about the snub on Twitter, calling the song “one of the greatest R&B collaborations ever.”

“Even though people act like its easy to make a hit (& it’s not). As an artist you look forward to being acknowledged by the game,” Omarion first tweeted. “The odds have always been against me. I constantly prove you wrong. I’ll consistently do great things & you will have to celebrate me.”

“This isn’t a(n) ‘im upset’ (post to be) rant,” he clarified. “This is a(n)- ok so that wasn’t good enough. I’ll be back. Have my Grammy’s ready…The game has long changed since I was introduced to it. They want to still treat me like I’m a new to this. My moment is coming trust.”

“So when it’s all said & done. Remember. I prophesied it,” Omarion tweeted. “It’s my destiny. I was destined.”

When social media began to mock him over his last comment, Omarion wrote simply, “they laughed at Jesus.”
