*Serena Williams was caught hailing a cab mid-race to take her to the finish line of her own 5K charity fun run in Miami .
Paps caught Sports Illustrated’s newly crowned Sportsperson of the Year stopping almost halfway into her Live Ultimate Run, when she hopped into a cab to be driven to the finish line.
The 34-year-old’s shortcut sparked rumors that she may still be battling a knee injury that cut short her 2015 season.
She didn’t reveal the cause in a video posted to her Facebook page a short time later, but did confirm that she was unable to finish. “I didn’t run the whole way this year, but … next time,” she promised.
Her sister Venus did complete the run and is seen in the video with a medal around her neck.

Some 3,000 runners took part in the event, which runs along Ocean Drive and into the Art Deco suburb of Miami Beach. The money raised is shared among a variety of charities.
