LisaRaye-mccoyIn other news, LisaRaye McCoy is making moves on the small screen with the debut of her film “Skinned.”

The hour and a half movie, which was nominated as one of the best independent feature films to be screened at the Bronze Lens Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia in November, is set to premiere during the first quarter of 2016 on TV One.

Touching on colorism and self-acceptance, “Skinned” focuses on the story of Jolie, a young woman so uncomfortable in her own skin that she turns to skin lightening creams to alter her complexion.

Jolie’s focus on lightening her skin stems from her misconceptions about beauty in the film, which was directed by McCoy and Avery O. Williams. So much so that that years after bleaching her skin, she discovers that bleaching creams she used, which contained harmful chemicals, have caused health complications. As she gets help from a psychiatrist, Jolie journeys back to where it all began to face her demons in an effort to sustain her future.
