*Here’s more indisputable proof that Donald Trump is an unhinged demagogue who’s out of his damn mind. And that’s putting it mildly.
The front runner for Republican presidential nomination issued a call to shut out all Muslims from entering the United States.
He’s calling for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” in a statement he released on Monday.
“Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life,” he said.
Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims in the US would apply to all, including tourists, his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said.
Trump went on to cite sketchy research that stated a large segment of the Muslim population hated Americans.
The business mogul used a study from Center for Security Policy, a Washington D.C. think tank which has been criticized for promoting Islamophobia. A Georgetown study argued that the think tank’s research made false claims using inaccurate statistics in June.
In the statement, he also made claims against Shariah law, which he said poses a great threat to Americans, specifically women.
And for his effort, Trump’s brash declaration immediately received pushback from both sides of the political spectrum:
