Beyonce Not Writing Hottentot Venus Film / Chrisette Michelle is ‘Becoming Mrs. Ellison’

beyonce, saartjie baartman*Earlier this week the Internet was abuzz with rumors that Beyonce was working on a movie about the tragedy of the Hottentot Venus Saartjie Baartman — the South African woman widely known for her appearance in freak shows in the 1800s because of her extraordinarily large buttocks and ‘exotic features’.

News of the project was first reported by The Sun via “a Hollywood source” that Beyoncé would be writing and starring in the film. However a rep for the singer told Billboard in a Jan. 5 statement  that the story is not true.

“Beyonce is in no way tied to this project. This is an important story that should be told, however.”

Many called the move ‘arrogance’ and accused Bey of lacking ‘basic human dignity’ following news that she planned to write and star in a film about one of South Africa’s most tragic historical figures. It’s certainly refreshing to know that she’s not involved with such a project because Beyonce, quite frankly, does not have the acting chops nor physical believability to play the role.

Chrisette MichelleMeanwhile, singer Chrisette Michelle is giving fans a behind the scenes look at her engagement in her latest YouTube web series “Becoming Mrs. Ellison,” which will chronicle her relationship with her manager Doug “Mr. Biggs” Ellison as well as her #SteadyGang, the team of folks who help manage her career.

“We have been through the lows and now we are ready to celebrate the highs” says the R&B songstress of her beau.

Chrisette, who runs her own label, Rich Hipster, recently appeared at the Soul Train Music Awards during the cypher segment performing her new single “Steady” from her upcoming album, Milestone.

She told Rolling Out that her Soul Train experience was “epic” because she got to be near Erykah Badu.

“Any opportunity to be near Erykah Badu is epic sauce. She is definitely my favorite and she has set the bar for so many things in my life. She just came out with a mixtape so I really felt like it was ok to do “Steady” with Erykah Badu because she understood. Then she made all those jokes about Hip Hop and rappers. She was having fun with it and so could I,” she said.
