‘FABLife’ Canceled Following Tyra Banks’ Departure

Tyra+Banks*Two months after  Tyra Banks, now a new mother, announced her departure from ABC’s “FABLife” series, the network has announced that the lifestyle talk show  – which supermodel Chrissy Teigen also co-hosted – is officially canceled.

“We’re extremely proud of everyone involved with the show and would like to thank them for all of their contributions and tireless efforts,” Janice Marinelli, president, Disney/ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution, said in a statement (via Variety). “We are especially appreciative of our talented and dynamic co-hosts Chrissy Teigen, Joe Zee, Leah Ashley and Lauren Makk, and we would also like to extend a huge thanks to our station partners for all of their support.”

A source tells ET that show staff were told about the cancellation 10 minutes before the announcement. Although Banks previously said in a statement that she was leaving “FABLife” to focus on her new cosmetics brand, TYRA Beauty, the source said that Banks had been “made promises” by ABC to lure her back to daytime, indicating that she would be given freedom to chart the creative direction of the show,” but that turned out not to be the case.

“It wasn’t exciting for her,” a source told PEOPLE. “She is a serious businesswoman and person, and she just didn’t want to be doing it anymore.”

In December, Banks, who also ended “America’s Next Top Model” after 22 cycles in October, told ET that she has multiple other TV projects in the works.

“Do you have any idea how many TV projects I’ve got in development, and we’ve sold already?” she said. “We’re not going to stop doing TV. It’s just not me having to be there the whole time.”

“FABLife” will still run through the end of April but reports claim that it will be replaced by the viral video clip show “Right This Minute” in the fall. Additionally, “America’s Next Top Model” is set to relaunch on VH1 this year.
