Nick Cannon: ‘I Highly Doubt’ Second Marriage Following Mariah Carey Divorce

Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey*Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey tied the knot back in 2008 at her private estate on Windermere Island in The Bahamas.

Five years later they lived out a fairy-tale “Fantasy” wedding at the Disneyland Resort where they marked their fifth wedding anniversary with a renewal of vows and celebrated their twins’ second birthday.

A year later, the couple announced their separation, and now Nick is saying he doubts he’ll ever get married again.

“I never ever in my life want to have to — how do I say this the right way — not to say that I was bogged down [in my marriage], because I wasn’t by any means, but I like being able to make my own decisions and come and go as I please,” the father of two explained.

When asked if he would walk down the aisle a second time, he replied, “I highly doubt it.”

While Carey’s relationship with James Packer continues to make headlines, Cannon’s rumored list of post-Mariah lovers suggest he’s not yet ready to seriously date anyone.

“I’ve had friends and we hang out, but I’m not ready to do anything serious,” he told Ellen DeGeneres in December. “I feel like marriage isn’t for everyone,” the “America’s Got Talent” host told DuJour magazine. “A friend of mine put it the funniest way. He said, ‘If you heard that there was a 50/50 chance of living or dying when you jump out of a plane, you probably wouldn’t go skydiving.’ There’s like a 50/50 chance of marriage working. If it didn’t work out for you the first time, and you still survived it, you probably shouldn’t do it again.”

Cannon and Carey have remained seemingly amicable since calling it quits, and he has said that he doesn’t see the problem with raising their kids in the spotlight.

“I don’t see a problem with them being different and having an eccentric upbringing. It’s fascinating and fantastic. But it’s about [teaching them] humility more than anything. Teaching them to be respectful — to make eye contact and say ‘Yes, ma’am and ‘Yes, sir,'” he told the magazine. “You can still be a diva and be humble. Mariah is a perfect example of that.”
