*The former Oklahoma City cop who preyed on and sexually assaulted black women on his beat was sentenced to 263 years in prison during an emotional hearing on Thursday.

District Judge Timothy Henderson gave Daniel Holtzclaw the maximum sentence to run consecutively on 18 counts of having raped and sexually abused at least eight women in 2013 and 2014 while on his beat as a cop.

Holtzclaw’s attorney, Scott Adams, filed for a new trial on the Wednesday night before the sentencing hearing based on claims that DNA evidence has been omitted from the investigation, which repeatedly delayed Thursday’s sentencing hearing.

The judge denied the motion for a new trial on grounds that there was not enough evidence.

Holtzclaw was convicted last month on 18 of 36 possible charges which included sodomy and rape.
