*Balmain is taking us back to the 90s for its new Spring/Summer 2016 campaign, which features the three fashion icons for which the term “supermodel” was created.
Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer appear in new black-and-white images for the fashion house, marking a “new chapter for Balmain,” Olivier Rousteing, Balmain’s creative director, told Vogue.com.
Since his 2011 takeover, Rousteing has tapped into the millennial audience by featuring ads with Rihanna, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, as well as sister acts Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and Gigi and Bella Hadid.
Going back to the supermodel OGs is a departure, but one that is personal for Rousteing.
“This campaign is about what makes me love fashion, and these three women are exactly that. These three women are what made me love fashion yesterday, make me love fashion today, and are going to make me love fashion in the future,” Rousteing explained.
