*”Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Sheree Whitfield still hasn’t moved into her dream home, Chateau Sheree, primarily because of money problems, and now the reality star-turn fashion designer is suing the construction company due to structural problems.
“Sheree hasn’t been able to come up with the money needed to finish the house. Her ex-husband Bob’s bankruptcy impacted her, as well as getting hit for tons of money in back taxes. Who knows if she will ever be able to move into it,” and Insider told Radar Online back in November.
The insider claimed, “There has even been talk that Sheree has tried to privately sell it to come up with cash.”
When asked by her RHOA castmates about the status of the construction on her mansion during an episode early in this new season, Whitfield said she was “still building” the home.
“It takes time,” Whitfield told the ladies, but her admission led co-star Kenya Moore to allege that people in the neighborhood “had been complaining to the city” that Sheree’s ongoing construction was bringing down the value of their homes.
“Anybody that has built a house before, then they probably can come to me. But if they have not, then they can probably keep renting,” Whitfield replied. In her Bravo blog, she admitted to financial problems, and said she “took on an enormous project with my family and clearly got in way over my head.”
Five years after beginning the residential project and Whitfield still can’t move her belongings into the 15,000 sq. ft. mansion off Mt. Paran Road in SW Atlanta.
Curbed Atlanta reports that Sheree is suing her insurance company for $279,940 due to faulty repairs on a pipe that burst during the harsh winter of 2014 – causing water to cascade from the second-floor balconies of the home. Unsatisfied with the insurance payout she received from the disaster, Sheree recently sued her contractor for $23,000 in unpaid balances. She’s hoping this latest legal setback will lead to a nice payout.
