A Miserable Cam Newton Bolts Out of Press Conference (WATCH)

cam newton (press conference after super bowl)

*Poor Cam Newton.

It was a really, really long night for him.

As we said in a separate report, the Carolina Panthers 26-year-old quarterback basically got his ass handed to him on Sunday evening by the Denver Broncos who won Super Bowl 50 by the score of 24-10.

The NFL’s 2015 MVP was sacked six times, turned the ball over three times and was under pressure from Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware all night on Sunday.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, he had to talk to media afterwards and quite frankly it wasn’t a good look. Not that his haters need any ammunition to use against him, but unfortunately for him, he gave them just what they wanted.

Newton basically became Marshawn Lynch, answering questions with mostly one word responses along with pitiful looks and then finally walking off after a question he didn’t like.

Check out video of that moment below:

Here’s an extended look at the press conference:

As we alluded to up top, he drew plenty of criticism:

Newton, one of the more polarizing QBs in the league, has been criticized for immaturity in the past, and this certainly isn’t going to help that image.

There aren’t a lot of situations that are worse for players who have to talk to media directly after losing the biggest game of their life, but it’s clear he could have handled himself better. The Charlotte Observer‘s Joe Person summed it up well:

The bottom line is that this is going to be a long, long offseason for Newton. We’d advise him to stay away from social media and sports-talk radio for a while, too ’cause his name is going to come up over and over and it won’t be pretty.
