Camille Cosby Files & Loses Emergency Motion for Deposition Delay

camille-cosby*Lawyers for Camille Cosby have failed in a last ditch effort to postpone their client’s deposition, which is scheduled for today, Monday (Feb. 22). Mrs. Cosby’s under oath session is on the docket for 9:30am Eastern in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The Associated Press reports the motion to delay Cosby’s deposition was filed late Saturday (Feb. 20). The motion, which argued the deposition should have delayed because Cosby “has had no involvement with the facts or allegations underlying this case,” was put in a day after a federal judge ruled Friday that the 71-year-old’s deposition must proceed Monday.

The case in question involves Camille Cosby’s husband, Bill Cosby, who is at the center of a defamation lawsuit brought against him by seven women who say he sexually assaulted them decades ago. Camille Cosby is scheduled to answer questions under oath regarding the case in her deposition.

The emergency motion went on to bring up that Camille Cosby’s public testimony would create “an unnecessary media circus and personal security threat that serves no purpose other than to harass and embarrass her.”

The AP notes that lawyers for the Cosbys have  denied the sexual assault allegations and have attempted to suppress the deposition subpoena.
