*Some things are harder to get past than others as things got awkward when Deion Sanders asked Carolina Panthers’ Josh Norman about his infamous altercation with NY Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. during a Panthers/Giants game this past NFL season.

As Sanders brought up the situation during Super Bowl Opening Night in San Francisco on Monday, Norman didn’t seem too keen on talking about Beckham Jr. Instead Norman shot down a few questions about his rival and told Sanders, “I don’t want to talk about that guy now,” Complex reports.

Not swayed by Norman wanting to move past the issue, Sanders made things testy as it seemed like he played some kind role in trying to get Norman and Beckham Jr. to patch things up after their incident.

To hear Sanders tell it, he tried to call Norman a short time after the Panthers/Giants game with Beckham Jr. on the phone. According to Complex, the plan was for Beckham Jr. to apologize to Norman for what had taken place during the game. Turns out, Norman apparently refused to take Sanders’ call because he was upset about some things Sanders said about the situation:

Although Sanders made an attempt to tell Norman that he was “proud” of him and Beckham Jr. because of the way they approach the game of football, Norman looked like he wasn’t in a state to forgive Sanders for his handling of the situation with Beckham Jr.

“I felt like you had his back on some stuff,” Norman told the former NFL star. “Like he was your son and you’d give him props. He’s trying to take me out and that’s what you’re going to pat him on the back for and say ‘good job’?”

Despite the awkwardness and tension, things appeared to have been resolved with Norman and Sanders by the time the interview was over and done with.
