*”Lethal Weapon” is coming to series television.

Fox has ordered a one-hour drama pilot based on the film series of the 80s and 90s starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as LAPD detectives. Wayans will take over Glover’s role of Roger Murtaugh.

The role of Gibson’s Martin Riggs has yet to be cast. In the pilot, the Texas cop and former Navy SEAL moves to Los Angeles after the loss of his wife and baby. In LA, he’s partnered with Murtaugh, who is recovering from a “minor” heart attack and is supposed to avoid any stress in his life – hence his franchise catchphrase, “I’m too old for this s**t.”

The pilot hails from executive producers Matt Miller, Dan Lin, Jennifer Gwartz and McG. McG will direct a script from Miller.
