*When fans noticed that Ne-Yo’s kids were absent at his wedding over the weekend, they immediately took to social medial to ask his ex, ‘what’s up with that?’
Ne-Yo married model Crystal Renay at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. on Feb. 20, and his ex, Monyetta Shaw, was compelled to explain that his 4-year-old son Mason Evan and 5-year-old daughter Madilyn Grace, missed the ceremony because they had a prior school engagement.
She wrote:
“Not that it’s anyone’s business I have a few secs to entertain since we are all done with these school visits for today … Any involved parent in search for the best school for their children knows how important this process is & I don’t take it lightly. It’s a very long process & we are at the end which is the kids observation at schools.”
Ne-Yo’s new wife, who’s expecting her first child with Ne-Yo, also commented on the kids’ absence, posting on Instagram that she missed them but knows “they had important school business to handle.”
Roughly 150 guests attended the scenic wedding in the beach town located outside of Los Angeles. Us Weekly reports that the nuptials were followed by a cocktail reception and then dinner and dancing in the Catalina Kitchen for about 150 guests.
“We can’t wait to start our life together,” Ne-Yo told People magazine. “We’re looking forward to just being each other’s best friend.”
He continued, “This is big for me. I’m not doing this again, so I’m happy that my family and friends are able to be there to share this moment with us. We’re human beings, so we’re gonna bump heads on different things, but we’ve agreed that this is going to be a marriage that lasts.”
