Rudy Giuliani Accuses Beyoncé of Attacking Police with Super Bowl Performance

beyonce and rudy giuliani*With a new song and video taking fans by surprise and a show-stealing cameo alongside Bruno Mars during Coldplay’s Super Bowl halftime performance, the weekend belonged to Beyoncé, who also squeezed in a commercial announcing her upcoming world tour right after slaying the heavily-hyped sporting event.

And while the new song in question was called “Formation,” former New York Mayor and staunch conservative Rudy Giuliani formed a very different opinion of the tune, which had the attention and thumbs up of the Beyhive and music fans alike. To hear Giuliani tell it, Beyoncé’s performance was nothing more than a high-profile display of disrespect for the police.

“I think it was outrageous,” Giuliani told Fox News on Monday. “The halftime show I thought was ridiculous anyway. I don’t know what the heck it was. A bunch of people bouncing around and all strange things. It was terrible.”

“This is football, not Hollywood, and I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers who are the people who protect her and protect us, and keep us alive,” he continued. “And what we should be doing in the African-American community, and all communities, is build up respect for police officers. And focus on the fact that when something does go wrong, okay. We’ll work on that. But the vast majority of police officers risk their lives to keep us safe.”

In addition to the halftime performance, Giuliani went on to criticize Beyoncé’s homage to the pro-black organization, the Black Panther Party, with her and her dancers dressing in black and sporting afros as well as the dancers forming the letter “X” to pay respect to late civil rights icon Malcolm X.

The activism continued after the performance as a picture captured one of Beyoncé’s dancers holding a handwritten sign that read, “Justice for Marlo Woods.” Woods, an unarmed black man, was killed after being shot 16 times by police in San Francisco.

Giuliani wasn’t the only person offended by Beyoncé. According to reports, the singer’s performance triggered a boycott of the “Formation” music video by police and their supporters. National Sheriff’s Association members expressed their disdain for Queen Bey’ as they confessed to turning their television off during the halftime show set while they watched the Super Bowl.

Weighing in on what she did at halftime, Beyoncé stated to Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier that she hopes “Formation” will ultimately make a positive impact in peoples’ lives.

“It makes me proud,” she said about her latest tune.

“I wanted people to feel proud and have love for themselves,” Beyoncé added as she revealed her favorite part of the halftime show. “The best part was seeing Coldplay.”
