Trump Sticker Causes Heated Interaction Between St. John’s University Students

trump supporter brianna agazali and clifford durand*Donald Trump may not have been at St. John’s University, but a sticker promoting him did raise the ire of a student who threatened to destroy a classmate’s computer because of her support for the GOP presidential frontrunner.

According to the New York Daily News , the situation stems from a photo 18-year-old Clifford Durand posted Wednesday (Feb. 10) that showed Brianna Algazali with a Trump “Make America Great Again” sticker on her laptop. Algazali was unaware that her picture was being taken.

“7000 retweets and i’ll smash this b***h’s computer.”

Within four hours of the picture being posted online, it was retweeted more than 16,000 times.

Upon getting word that her picture went viral, an angry Algazali complained to the St. John’s public safety office and confronted Durand at the school’s Fresh Meadows campus. The Daily News notes that several witnesses watched the confrontation as the 20-year-old student threw the hot Matcha green tea in her cup on Durand.

“She raised her voice and she threw her drink on him,” a friend of Durand told the publication. “He looked like he was in shock. I went towards him to hold him back.”

“She asked him to take down the post and he said ‘make me,’ ” another student said.

Other students on the scene claimed Durand struck Algazali after he was hit with green tea. In one of dozens of tweets he sent out, Durand apparently backed the students’ claims as he apparently confessed to the deed before Twitter suspended his account.

“SHE THREW HER STARBUCKS AT ME AFTER CUSSING ME OUT AND SHE GOT SHOVED IN THE NECK,” Durand tweeted after the incident with Algazali.

Although Durand’s Twitter page was suspended, that didn’t prevent Trump supporters from coming at him with a slew of comments and threats beforehand.

“lmaoooo when i say i was gonna beat her up?” Durand replied to one commenter who accused him of threatening women.

“i threatened her computer, so how bout you eat a d***?” he wrote back to another.

Although it’s unclear whether there were any injuries connected to the encounter, St. John’s admitted it was aware of what went down.

“Safety is the top priority at St. John’s University. We are aware of an incident that occurred earlier today on campus and it is being addressed,” a representative for the school told the Daily News. “Any student in violation of our Code of Conduct is subject to our conduct process.”

Taking to Twitter, St. John’s weighed in on the uproar as it thanked those who brought the issue to officials.

“Thank you everyone who reported the incident to us. This type of behavior will not be tolerated. Public Safety is handling the situation,” the school’s post read.

When asked about her situation with Durand, Algazali remained tight-lipped on any other specifics.

“St. John is handling it right now I don’t want to say anything,” she said. “They’re handling it the best they can, but I fear for my safety.”

For those wondering if the law got involved, the New York Police Department shared with the Daily News that it wasn’t involved in the case.
