Could Whoopi Goldberg’s ‘Slave’ Mentality Get Her Fired From ‘The View’?

Whoopi-Goldberg-*Is Whoopi Goldberg looking at life beyond “The View?”

That seems to be the case as an insider reveals that the Oscar winning entertainer, who collects $5 million a year as the lead co-host on the daytime TV talk show, is looking to get herself fired on purpose and “has been at war with the management.”

“Whoopi has been so antagonistic, she’s constantly at war with management,” a source with “The View” told Page Six. “It’s so bad that some execs think she’s daring them to fire her so she can go off and do other things, particularly after her ‘slave’ outburst. She knows if they did fire her, they’d have to pay out her contract and she’d be paid $5 million for doing nothing.”

Page Six notes that the source’s reference to a “slave outburst” stems from an incident that allegedly took place last year that found Goldberg walking around the workplace saying, “I’s a work for ABC, who is my master. I’s a slave to ABC. It’s ’12 Years a Whoopi’ at ABC,” a reference to the film “12 Years a Slave.”

“Whoopi loves the money, but she doesn’t want to work so hard anymore,” the show source told Page Six. “She doesn’t come in prepared, she doesn’t really engage with other panelists and guests. She gives some one-liners and moves on.”

As news surface about Goldberg looking to get fired from “The View,” things don’t look as good for her fellow “View” co-hosts Raven-Symone, Candace Cameron Bure, Joy Behar, Paula Faris and Michelle Collins. Recent reports state that some of them could be in line to be terminated as well.

Going back to Goldberg, she is currently in the final year of a four-year contract that is up at the end of the season. If she harbors a desire to renew her contract, the insider mentioned that, “it would be for significantly less money.”

Responding to the Page Six’s report, Goldberg’s rep labeled it “entirely untrue.” Adding to this are comments from an ABC rep, who denies that such drama with Goldberg exists.

“We hope Whoopi is here for a long time to come. She is a vital part of ‘The View’ who delivers every day as moderator and always comes to play,” the spokesperson told Page Six.
