50 Cent Ordered Back in Court After Flossin’ Fake Money to Maintain Image

50 cent & fake money

*50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson III, filed for bankruptcy last year after a New York City jury ordered him to pay $7 million to Lastonia Leviston, who said he posted her sex tape online.

Since then, 50 often posts on social media questionable images that seem to mock his suspect money situation. The rapper insists he’s not broke, and to prove this, Curtis has posted numerous pics flaunting his alleged lavish lifestyle. Most recently, he posted a pic of him on Instagram sitting next to a pile of cash arranged to spell out “broke.”

The creditors saw 50’s stack of cash, and they want answers. TMZ reports that the rap star has responded in court docs filed Tuesday to allegations he’s hiding money from his creditors in his bankruptcy case. Judge Ann Nevins has ordered 50 Cent to appear in bankruptcy court in Hartford on Wednesday to explain the Instagram photos. The rapper said in a statement filed in court Tuesday that the bills were props and he isn’t hiding assets. He’s simply trying to maintain his ‘brand.’

“Hip-hop culture is widely recognized as aspirational in nature,’ the statement read. ‘The standard by which artists and fans engage is commonly tied to money, jewelry, products and advertising over social media. Products and brands are now marketed through social media as an effective way to engage with consumers. Just because I am sensitive to the needs of maintaining my brand does not mean that I am hiding assets or that I have lied on my filings in this Bankruptcy Case, neither of which is true.’

Judge Nevis wants Curtis to explain a photo he posted which shows a bottle of Effen Vodka, Jackson is paid to endorse, in his fridge, surrounded by stacks of money. She is also conceded about a picture showing 50 Cent on his bed covered in cash. There is also a video showing Jackson getting cheese from his money-filled fridge, per Daily Mail. Another video shows him pretending to wake up in bed with his legs buried under a pile of notes.

The U.S. trustee’s office is asking Nevins to appoint an examiner to review the rapper’s assets.
